Affilorama: What It Was and Why It Still Comes Up
The affiliate training platform that taught a generation, and why people still search the name twenty years on.
What it was
An affiliate marketing training platform and community, and for a long stretch one of the best-known entry points into the industry. A very large number of people now working in this market started inside it. Alongside it ran Traffic Travis, an SEO tool from the same era.
What it taught
SEO, article marketing, backlinks, keyword research. Almost none of it works the way it did then, and that is the point rather than a criticism — the channel changed, as channels do.
Why the name still gets searched
- Recognition. People who learned then remember the brand, not the person. When a new product appears they search the name they know.
- Verification. Someone weighing a four-figure course looks up the seller's history, and this is what they find.
- Nostalgia and comparison. "Is this the same person" is a common and reasonable question.
