The Comment-to-DM Mechanic, Explained

Why asking for a comment outperforms putting a link in your bio, structurally.

The loop

  1. A short post asks for a one-word comment
  2. The comment raises engagement, so the platform shows the post to more people
  3. Automation opens a direct message with whoever commented
  4. The conversation carries the offer — and the extra reach is already finding the next person

Why it beats link-in-bio

Every platform suppresses posts that send people away, because an outbound click costs them the session. A link-in-bio post is arguing with the ranking system on every impression.

A comment post does the opposite: it supplies exactly what the platform rewards — engagement, replies, dwell time — and is paid in distribution. The selling then happens in a one-to-one message where no public link was needed.

The elegant part: the step that makes the sale is the same step that buys the next batch of traffic. That is why it is described as a loop rather than a funnel.

What it costs

Volume and consistency, plus automation once replies exceed what you can type. The mechanic converts well; it still needs enough posts for the ranking system to find the audience that responds.
